Intersolar Award for Solar Projects in North America
Atkins’ client ESA Renewables won this award for its innovative solar voltaic array installation at Martins Creek Elementary School (Murphy, NC). Atkins performed critical electrical-system reviews of the solar voltaic array and its interconnection to the electrical grid. (2012)

Atkins won the 2012 Public Works Project of the Year Award from the San Diego/Imperial (California) chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) for engineering a new wastewater pump station for Del Mar, California.

For its design of the innovative 5285-foot-long Terminal Roadway at the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal of Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Atlanta International Airport, Atkins won the 2012 Design Award from the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) in the “Best Bridge with Spans Between 76 and 150 Feet” category. 2012

An Atkins/Florida DOT District Six team won one of these annual awards—which are jointly sponsored by Florida TaxWatch, The Florida Council of 100, and the State of Florida—for the study Streamlined Process and Increased Revenues from Excess Property. 2012

Arizona Water Association Project of the Year, Wastewater Systems
The Atkins-designed Wastewater System Expansion Program of Lake Havasu City, Arizona won Project of the Year from the Arizona Water Association (AZ Water) in the category of Wastewater Systems. Atkins handled engineering and construction management for this new city-wide sewer system, which has enabled the City to close more than 20,000 septic tanks. The project was completed two years ahead of schedule and more than $100 million under budget.
