High-definition surveying is a non-intrusive means of rapidly collecting detailed and accurate as-built data. Based on cutting-edge technology, high-definition survey uses a narrow laser beam to “sweep across” a target object, so that hundreds of thousands of closely spaced measurements can be taken in a matter of minutes. When these scanned measurements are displayed on a computer, a dense representation of the target results which can be viewed and navigated much like a 3D model.
In the field, high-definition survey techniques provide an added measure of safety to surveyors who may need to capture data on heavily traveled roadways. Crisp, digital output assures that complete and accurate as-builts can be provided more quickly—and at a lower cost—than traditional survey methods. In short, high-definition survey is a tried and true way to make a positive impact on a project’s bottom line.
With nearly 50 years of surveying experience, Atkins has employed high-definition surveying on projects across the nation. Widely used for civil, architectural, and construction projects, this laser-based technology has also been used as an asset management tool to document and assess sites, with excellent results.
Atkins offers clients a full menu of high-definition survey, GPS/RTK, robotic, and conventional survey services—as well as a highly experienced team of professionals who can help select the right tool for each application. Capabilities
