Miami Seaquarium

USA-FL | SECTOR: Entertainment and Leisure

With yearly attendance averaging 500,000 visitors, the Miami Seaquarium is a 50-year-old, 37-acre landmark theme park located on Key Biscayne. The marine-based attraction features live shows and exhibits. Important to the history of its development as a landmark, the park served for 4 years as the film location of the Flipper television show in the 1960s. More recently, park management embarked on a program to update aging infrastructure and add new attractions, with the most recent attraction being the “Swim with the Dolphins” venue. The park’s brand identity is based on bringing the guest closer to the animals and creating an intimate personal experience focused on ecology and the natural environment.

Atkins’ services to create a plan for the renewal and replacement of facilities and uses at Miami Seaquarium included market assessment, facility and operational analysis, site analysis building assessment, financial analysis, conceptual design and cost estimating, detailed design and engineering, permitting, and bid and construction commissioning.
