Driven to provide fast-track transportation solutions in Nevada, Atkins delivered a host of multidisciplinary services to reduce congestion, improve roadway geometrics, and create an enhanced corridor along the US 95 freeway in Las Vegas. From major investment study support to preliminary and final design, Atkins has been involved in myriad facets of this high-profile Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) project.

Atkins completed an extensive traffic analysis and alternative designs for this project involving improvements to US 95, Rainbow Boulevard, and Summerlin Parkway. We coordinated with NDOT to develop future traffic volume projections for the project area, and we used CORSIM modeling for the proposed widening and interchange alternatives. Synchro software was also used for signal analysis to create signal phasing and progression schemes. Atkins produced permanent signing and striping for the project including designing sign structures, signing and striping design, and layout including high-occupancy vehicle lanes, and all associated quantities and estimates.

We created extensive traffic control to accommodate the various construction phases, in addition to close coordination with the ITS contract. We also provided construction support on this project in the form of ramp metering, temporary and permanent signal design, and modifications to existing signals.
